10 Motivational Quotes on Resilience and Perseverance

It’s a new week, with potential new struggles and adversity. I just wrote a couple of blogs on facing adversity and building resilience. We all need a little motivation from time to time. Life can be rather exhausting, and you might find it energizing to learn from those who successfully have journeyed through adversity. If you need more resilience to overcome life’s difficulties, here are 10 motivational quotes from famous people that can give you the grit and resolve to encounter and bounce back from any setback.

1 – “You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.” – Maya Angelou

2 – “Courage and perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear, and obstacles vanish into air.” – John Quincy Adams

3 – “If your determination is fixed, I do not counsel you to despair. Few things are impossible to diligence and skill. Great works are performed not by strength, but perseverance.” – Samuel Johnson

4 – “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

5 – “Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “Press on!” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” – Calvin Coolidge

6 – “Perseverance is failing 19 times and succeeding the 20th.” – Julie Andrews

7 – “Resilience is very different than being numb. Resilience means you experience, you feel, you fail, you hurt. You fall. But you keep going.” – Yasmin Mogahed

8 – “No one escapes pain, fear, and suffering. Yet from pain can come wisdom, from fear can come courage, from suffering can come strength – if we have the virtue of resilience.” – Eric Greitens

9 – “Like tiny seeds with potent power to push through tough ground and become mighty trees, we hold innate reserves of unimaginable strength. We are resilient.” – Catherine DeVrye

10 – “Resilience is knowing that you are the only one that has the power and the responsibility to pick yourself up.” – Mary Holloway

My hope is that these empowering quotes will help when you need to push through a difficult situation. Knowing what successful people who have faced adversity have done to overcome life’s difficulties might be what you need to overcome hardship or failure.
